An amazing time lapse video taken from the International Space Station as it orbits earth has gone viral with over two million views in less than a week.

Uploaded to YouTube on September 15 by user yesterday2221, the video, titled What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth, shows footage from the International Space Station as it orbits Earth.

The footage begins over the Pacific Ocean and continues over North and South America before daylight breaks as the space station passes over Antarctica. According to the text accompanying the video the footage captures major cities including Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico City.



Also visible on the video is Lake Titicaca, the Amazon, lightning in the Pacific, the Earth's ionosphere and, at 55 seconds, a satellite.



Despite being uploaded on September 15 the video only truly began to go viral over the last few days. Data from YouTube shows that, currently, on September 20, the video is the third most shared in the US and the fourth and sixth most shared in the Australia and the UK respectively.



Data from Unruly Media's viral video chart also shows that the video has been shared over 35,000 times on Facebook alone in the last 24 hours and that it is most popular with English, Spanish, German and Portuguese speakers.
