‘We share details of registered workers with police and city residents online’
Hamari Suraksha is a private agency authorised by the Gurgaon police to register credentials of domestic helps, drivers and tenants. It has tied up with Hindustan Times to hold a registration drive for maids/servants in Gurgaon.
Do you think this joint drive has made any difference in Gurgaon?
Absolutely, the joint launch has been very successful in creating awareness among residents, RWAs and they have responded positively to the campaign. Many people have got their domestic helps registered.
There has been a rise in criminal activities by domestic helps. How will you provide help in such cases?
Hamari Suraksha has been advising all residents/RWAs to register their domestic helps, drivers, security guards, delivery boys, hawkers etc. The personal details and biometric information of individual workers are available online and shared with the police for further verification and tracking. The online system also helps maintain the background information or report incidents (in case of theft/crime). The process of registration and sharing of information with police and residents ensures that the area is safe and domestic helps with right credentials have been hired. The maids are also aware that their profiles have been shared with the police.
Do you think the police are actively working on verification of helps?
Yes, the Gurgaon police have initiated several drives and have been actively involved in the process. Our team has been submitting information to the police and provides online access, so that the latter can cross-check information on helps and tenants.
What are the advantages of registering domestic helps?
The complete profile of a person, including photograph, biometric, references, education etc. is registered and shared with the police, government agencies, RWAs etc.
The police can conduct random verification, spot checks and send data to districts for further verification.
This acts as a deterrent among the workforce. Domestic helps know that getting involved in criminal activities will lead to their arrest. This provides protection to residents and curbs incidents of crime.
Our door-to-door service allows people to register their tenants, domestic helps easily.
After registering a domestic help, does Hamari Suraksha take responsibility for their verification with the police?
We have pioneered the process of sharing information of registered workers among residents and the police. The system allows employers to maintain the background of these individuals. We share this information with the police, but do not take responsibility for the verification. However, additional services are available for the same.
Why do you think people don’t come forward during such drives?
Lack of awareness and time and laidback attitude are reasons. Owners don’t want to go to the police station and neither do domestic helps want to get themselves registered. Fearing that domestic helps will leave, owners don’t initiate the process. On the other hand, domestic helps don’t have identity proofs. Personal information submitted to us helps the police arrest the accused in case of a crime.
