"In principle, we do not have any problem with the American people. Iran wanted to dispatch humanitarian aid to victims of Hurricane, but the US government did not accept," President Ahmadinejad said in an interview on Tuesday.

"We have planned to set up direct air link to New York to facilitate travel between the two nations. For us the human being is the principle and we respect rights of every individual to live with dignity in peace and tranquility," said the President.

He said if certain states wanted to impose restrictions on Iran, they were actually damaging themselves because the time for unilateral equation has gone.

"If the US wants to talk with the world with a language of threat and level charge against countries whenever it wishes to, it will be unacceptable and the US officials should revise their behaviour," Ahmadinejad said.

"Iranians are from a great civilisation who have proved throughout the history that they stand on their own feet and do not fear any threats.

"To the dismay of all ill-wishers, Iran has managed to tread the path of development and currently many countries are eager to cooperate with Iran," he said.
