In an interaction with members of Indian Medical Association in Lahurabeer area here on Thursday evening, he said network of mafia dons, Mukhtar Ansari and Brijesh Singh was operative in Varanasi.

The SSP even accepted Ansari and Singh had given their ‘franchises’ to Babu Yadav and Vinit Singh respectively. But at the same time, he said the denizens should give a befitting reply to these criminals and weed them out. Pandey asked the doctors not to be afraid of these criminals and immediately intimate the police after receiving any extortion or threatcalls. He assured the doctors that Varanasi police were always there for help.

He said that doctors should not have blind faith over their driver, staff and patients as the criminals may strike in the guise of these people. He suggested the doctors to be attentive specially when two or three youth come in a group for one reason or another.

He asked the common people to contact him on his mobile 9935210100 or 24-hour operative official phone 2501450 or 2502655 in case they get any threatening call. He also assured to provide arms license to IMA members within one month.

President of local chapter of IMA, Dr. PS Pandey presided over the function whereas IMA Secretary Dr. Sanjay Rai conducted the programme. Dr. Vivek Kumar and Dr. BMD Gupta welcomed the guests whereas Dr. Anil Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr. Kusum Chandra, Dr. Ajit Saigal, Dr. Vibha Mishra, Dr. Prabhakar Shukla, Dr. Nandlal Agrawal, Dr. KVP Singh and Dr. SC Khanna were among others who briefed the SSP about their problems.

Meanwhile, in a bid to give a befitting reply to criminals and help police, the local chapter of IMA constituted a security committee on Thursday.

Dr. Kusum Chandra would head the action committee whereas Dr. Ajit Saigal, Dr. Sanjay Rai and Dr. Rajendra Pathak have been made the members of the committee.
