West Bengal records turnout of 75 per cent, Bihar 37 per cent

West Bengal recorded a high of 75 per cent and Bihar a low of 37 per cent voter turnout in the fourth round of the Lok Sabha elections. The national capital saw a voter turnout of around 50 per cent, the Election Commission announced on Thursday.

Of the other five states that went to the polls, Haryana saw 63 per cent polling, Punjab 65, Jammu and Kashmir 24; it was around 50 per cent in Rajasthan as well as Uttar Pradesh.

The overall voter turnout was estimated at 57 per cent, said R Balakrishnan, deputy election commissioner.
