WHAT?S WITH LOVE
WHAT’S WITH LOVE
Director: Rudi Soedjarwo
While watching What’s with Love, one cannot stop but wonder if the lives of the inner city youth everywhere are the same, whether in Korea, the U.S., or Indonesia.
17 year-old high school student Cinta is a beautiful, smart, and thoughtful girl immersed in her busy life. Her literary skills are such that she wins the poetry award every year. She has a supportive family and also four very close friends. All the boys are infatuated with her.
But when a rebel called Rangga enters her life, everything suddenly changes. The result? … just as expected - Cinta falls in love. While the film follows all the norms of the youth genre film, it touches on deeper themes while never once loses its emotional tone.
