Whose dress was it anyway?

Who designed the outfit Bipasha Basu wore at the Grand Finale for the Autumn-Winter show of the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week in Delhi in April this year?

Is it the designer duo Rahul Khanna-Rohit Gandhi, Monisha Jaising (who did the grand finale collections) or Mumbai based designer-stylist Shilpa Chavan?
Chavan says she was commissioned to create a dress on behalf of Wills and the outfit was not a part of the Rahul-Rohit collection. "I was paid separately to create the whole outfit…but the initial outfit that we were planning to give Bipasha was slightly transparent and she was uncomfortable wearing it. So we had to make another piece for her," she says, adding she then made the final piece in Rahul-Rohit's workshop.
Tania (of the Apu-Tania duo) who choreographed the show agrees, "Bipasha's costume was made by Shilpa."
But designer Rohit Gandhi has a different take. "Shilpa was ready to do the whole ensemble…but I don't think her garment worked out. Bipasha apparently tried it on, but didn't want to wear it," Rohit says insisting the garment was definitely a 'Rahul-Rohit' one. Only the accessories, he says, were done by Chavan.
"However, the outfit was credited as Monisha's garment because Bipasha walked out after Monisha's collection. But we said it was no big deal because Monisha was the senior designer and it was just a garment," he says.
Will's publicists stick to their version: "The dress was designed by Rahul Khanna-Rohit Gandhi and styled by an external stylist." But Tania says, "Rohit must be confused because all of us (Rahul-Rohit, Shilpa and Apu Tania) were there at the briefing with Wills… it was made by Shilpa." Watch this space for more.
