James Cameron's film Avatar may soon become the highest grossing film of all time, beating his previous hit Titanic.

The new movie has amassed 1.14 billion dollars within a period of three weeks from its release.

However, it may take some more time to break Titanic's record of 1.84 billion dollars.

Nonetheless, Avatar has become the fastest movie ever to achieve 1 billion dollars in ticket sales around the world.

It was reportedly the most expensive film ever made, with a budget of at least 300 million.

Meanwhile, Cameron revealed that he has a trilogy in mind.

"I feel like I have to make a second one now, but that'll only happen if we make some money with the first one,” the BBC News quoted him as saying.

He added: "I have a story worked out for the second film, and the third film, but my lips are sealed.”
