Following Hindustan Times’ reports, what action did the legal metrology department take to curb MRP violations?
We conducted a special drive focused on the MRP violations of aerated drink bottles and filed 41 cases across the state. The inspections were held on those locations reported in the Hindustan Times such as bus depots and hospital canteens.

Do you have adequate infrastructure to keep a check on the MRP violations?
Across the state, we have 282 inspectors, but of these 20 posts are vacant... despite limited resources we are implementing the law. We need more vehicles for our staff during checks.

Will such drives be conducted for other products as well?
We will conduct drives to check on other products such as milk and sweets, depending on the supply-demand ratio of the commodity.

Consumers complain that your helpline number is not accessible?
The helpline number —22886666 — is always accessible on working days.
