Smith was going to be rested during the trip, but he was called up after Sammy pulled out with a hamstring injury. Sammy has been bothered by the injury since the West Indies 'A' team series against Sri Lanka A in December.
Both players are preparing for the cricket World Cup as members of the West Indies 30-man provisional squad. The tournament, which will be played in the Caribbean for the first time, runs from March 13 to April 28.
