Wine, beer may be taxed less

Minister of State Subodh Kant Sahay says the government is considering separation for tax and excise purposes.

The issue of delinking wine and beer from hard liquor for tax and excise purposes is under consideration at present, the government has said.

Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha Thursday that a draft model had been prepared by an inter-ministerial group including representatives from states.
