In yet another incident in Uttar Pradesh, an iron implement was allegedly inserted in the private parts of a woman in Sitapur district. When the woman resisted she was beaten up and burning cow dung cake was reportedly put on her on Saturday night, police said.
The family members took the woman to a community health centre (CHC) in Biswa town where she was referred to a district hospital in Sitapur where the staff reportedly refused to admit her.
On Sunday her family members went to meet the district magistrate and Superintendent of Police (SP) where they were told that both the officers have been transferred.
When media persons, who by then were informed of the incident, put pressure on the hospital, the victim was admitted.
Dr Vijay Verma, medical officer, CHC, Biswa, said that since the condition of the woman was serious he referred her to the district hospital. The medical superintendent of district hospital said since the family members of the victim had not informed the police or lodged FIR, she was not admitted to the hospital.
Deputy SP, Biswa, Deependra Chaudhary said land dispute between two families was reason for the attack. An FIR has been registered against four persons who barged into her house and beat her up.
