Woman held for killing auto driver

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of an auto-driver even as her son and other relative - both co-accused - are untraceable. Prabhu Razdan reports.

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of an auto-driver even as her son and other relative - both co-accused - are untraceable.

Police arrested Babli alias Anita, 50, on Sunday for killing Adam Ali on the intervening night of March 9 and 10, 2013 and dumping his body inside an auto-rickshaw on Dabua-Pali road.

She was produced before the court on Monday which remanded her to one-day police custody.Police said that the victim had illicit relations with Babli's daughter. Even after the marriage of her daughter, the victim used to send letters to her in-laws about his affair with the girl.

Enraged over his conduct, Babli, her son Ravi and a relative hatched a conspiracy to murder Ali. They called him and offered him liquor before strangling him to death.
