Woman raped in city hospital
A CLASS four employee of Balrampur Hospital raped a patient at the female ward here in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The victim kept lying on the floor of the deserted ward in pain for over an hour as the accused bolted the doors of the ward from outside before leaving. The accused, who was arrested later, has confessed to his crime.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the victim’s husband came to visit her in the ward. They later informed the doctors who called the Wazirganj police. The victim, a native of Sitapur district and suffering from acute abdomen pain, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday noon.
She was admitted at ward no-31. Since it was a female ward and male were not allowed after 10 pm, her husband left her alone in the ward in the night. The 35-year-old woman stated that it was around 12 in the night when sweeper Ajit Kumar Valmiki entered the ward. He told the woman that he was sent by the doctor to give her injection. Ajit asked her to accompany him to another ward for the injection.
He later took the woman to a nearby deserted ward (no-24) and initially tried to molest her. As the woman offered resistance he overpowered her and outraged her modesty issuing life threats.
