Suspended from parachutes, a Soyuz TMA-8 capsule touched down in the Central Asian republic, the news agency Interfax reported from the mission control centre.

Accompanying the Iranian-born US entrepreneur were Russian cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov and US astronaut Jeffrey Williams, who have completed a six-month flight on the station.

Ansari, 40, is the fourth commercial space traveller and the first woman tourist to visit the ISS, paying around $ 20 million to the Russian space agency.
