Addressing the dharna, AIPWA national president, Shrilata Swaminathan said violence against women in the State was increasing everyday. To get justice for Farzana Khatoon was a cause the APIWA was ready to fight for. Instead of protecting the culprits, the government should arrests them, she added.

The AIPWA wanted the Mulayam Singh Yadav government to resign, as women, Dalits and Muslims were not safe in the State under its rule. The association also demanded a white paper on the violence that had taken place in the State in the last 20 years.
