The Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGC) has accelerated the pace to set up the 500 MW thermal power station at Yamunanagar at an estimated cost of Rs 1900 crore.
A spokesman of HPGC said here on Tuesday that the notification under section 29 (2) of Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948 has been issued to invite objections from the general public regarding any aspect of the scheme within a period of two months. This, he said was the last procedural requirement before practical implementation of the project.
He said that most of other statutory requirement like acquisition of land, availability of water source clearance from Haryamna State Pollution Control Board and coal linkage had already been tied up.
He said that two units of 250 MW each would be set up under this project and these are scheduled to be completed in the year 2006-2007. This project would generate 120 lakh units of electricity per day.
He said that this project had been included in the capacity addition programme of the tenth Five Year Plan of Union Ministry of Power. The Haryana Government had approved this project for implementation in the State Sector. The funds would be moblised by the State Government and Power Finance Corporation in the ratio of 20:80.
