World Bank decision on Baglihar soon: Pak

The foreign office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said though there is no set deadline for a decision but it will be made as soon as possible.

Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said that the neutral arbitrator's decision on Baglihar dam would be out soon.

The neutral expert has called both the parties (Pakistan and India) after going through the process and his award may come soon, she was quoted as saying by a private Pakistani TV channel.

Aslam said though there is no set deadline for a decision but it will be made as soon as possible.

Pakistan and India have been trying to solve this issue bilaterally, but it could not be done, she said, adding the matter was consequently referred to World Bank under the provisions of Indus Water Treaty.

According to the spokesperson, the World Bank appointed a neutral expert who after hearing the point of view of both India and Pakistan visited the site of controversial project.

The expert has been questioning both the sides during the process, which were replied in the specific time frame, she said.
