And by came an Angel, who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffin & set them all free;
Then down a green plain leaping, laughing they run,
And wash in a river and shine in the Sun.

William Blake, a visionary in his poem describes the dream of little Tom who works as a chimney sweeper. Perhaps the 'magical key' that was dreamt of ages ago is finally been discovered in the three days Children's World Congress on Child Labour recently organised in Florence, Italy.

Here the 'Angel' were no other than the victims themselves, who came together from all over the world to draw a future plan for those who were still there in coffin and need to be rescued.

The Congress culminated in the declaration demanding education for all, and a march where 'leaping and laughing' children danced through the streets of Florence, matching steps with rhythmic beats of the drums in the background.

The first ever Children's World Congress on Child Labour was organised by Global March Against Child Labour and hosted by its European Coordinator Mani Tese together with the Italian Trade Unions CGIL, CISL and UIL. Around 300 children representing geographical and economic entities of the world came together to voice the condemnable practices against them, to share their experiences as child labourers, and demand a child labour free world.
