"Worst democracy is better than any military dictatorship," Imran was quoted as saying in Daily Times.

He said President General Pervez Musharraf's policies were violating the Pakistani Constitution adding that the opposition parties would not participate in the general elections under Musharraf's Presidency, until an independent chief Election Commissioner was appointed.

He said the appointment of an independent Election Commission was vital to democracy in Pakistan and added that the government had failed to resolve peoples' problems.

The Tehreek-e-Insaf party leader demanded an independent inquiry into the deaths in Waziristan and Balochistan and said that the people of these areas were loyal to Pakistan and their genocide would not be in the national interest.
