WTTC said airports create the first impression in every visitor whether business travellers or leisure tourists.
"India has lagged behind most countries in the region, particularly China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Easy and smooth connectivitiy is paramount to overall economic growth," WTTC said in a statement on New Delhi.
Stressing that airports were a mirror of a country's modernity, its infrastructure, its economy, the world tourism body said they also bring incremental business in themselves as profit centers and revenue generators.
