A Chinese delegation would be visiting the Karaikudi-based Alagappa University next month to assess infrastructure facilities available with the university for pursuit of higher education by Chinese students.

The visit, the first by a Chinese delegation, comes after the university’s vice-chancellor P Kanniappan entered into an International Memorandum of Understanding (IMoU) with three Chinese universities, during his visit to Beijing last year.

An official statement said that important areas chosen for cooperations were Yoga, Communicative English and Computer Science. While Chinese students would be trained in yoga, the University’s senior faculty members would spend a couple of months at Chinese universities teaching Yoga to students there.

The university also proposed to offer one-year advanced short-term language proficiency course in Communicative English to Chinese diploma holders.

Alagappa University had entered into IMoUs with Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, Jiujang University, Jigangxi and Yunyang Teachers College, Hubei province.
