Reddy was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala at Lal Bahadur Stadium.
As thousands of enthusiastic Congress activists, who thronged the stadium, raised slogans hailing his leadership, YSR, as he is popularly known, took the oath at 13:39 hours at a specially erected podium.
Reddy took the oath in the name of God as the state's 14th Chief Minister amidst rapturous applause from the crowd.
