Unwilling to comment on the reasons behind the shutdown, general manager Emiliano Collazo says, “We’re going to have parties almost every day this week, celebrating the best events we’ve had here since we started off.” Emiliano is also hesitant to comment on whether the popular club will re-open or open at a new outlet elsewhere. Zenzi has had a troubled past, facing constant issues from residents, who complained about the noise levels at night, thereby forcing the owners to shut shop indefinitely last July.
When it reopened in December, musicians and regulars flocked back to show their support. For their patrons, Zenzi is hosting a reunion night among other events that will lead up to the closure. “On reunion night, all our resident DJs over time will come together and play. It’s an open event and everyone is invited.”
The closing nights will also see Zenzi staples like city acts Bay Beat Collective and DJ Charlie perform, among stand up comedy and salsa nights, which the club has been hosting for a while now.
