Zila Panchayat meet witnesses uproar

UPROARIOUS SCENE was witnessed at the Zila Panchayat hall during a meeting convened to discuss a five-point agenda, including the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and sanitation programme.

The members of Zila Panchayat levelled serious charges against the chairman and additional chief Panchayat officer for misusing funds.

As the meeting started, zila panchayat member Umesh Yadav raised the issue that minimum wages under NREGS should be enhanced from Rs 58 to 75 per day.
Hectic debate started among the members and they blamed officials for delaying in issuance of job cards and providing the work.

Later, chief development officer Gauri Shanker Priyadarshani assured the members that their suggestions would be sent to the government.

The other members raised objection to the absence of the health officials from the meeting.
