A CRPF constable, who befriended a woman from Indore on Facebook, allegedly harassed her sexually and blackmailed her, police said.
He had allegedly clicked some obscene photographs and videos of the woman when she went to meet him and later started blackmailing her for money.
A case has been lodged against the constable at Hira Nagar police station under section 354(G), 384 and 506 and police are investigating the case.
According to TI Hira Nagar, Basant Mishra, the woman told the police that she became friendly with Sant Kumar, posted in Assam with CRPF, on April 13, 2013 and both started liking each other. Kumar is a resident of Jharkhand.
On August 24, 2013, Kumar called the woman to Lucknow and they both lived in hotel Mandikini Residency for five days. The woman came back to Indore but a few days later, she got a call from Kumar’s friend Rajeev Ranjan, who told the woman that he had some obscene photos and video clips of her.
"Ranjan allegedly demanded money and started blackmailing her. When the woman asked Kumar about the photographs, he claimed that he did not share any photographs with any person called Rajeev," said the TI.
On August 10, 2014, Kumar came to Indore. In an inebriated state, he told the woman that he had clicked the photographs and captured the videos and handed them over to Rajeev Ranjan. Subsequently, the woman complained to the police. Acting on her complaint, the cops nabbed Kumar and brought him to Hira Nagar police station.
In order to save himself, Kumar assured the police that he will marry the woman. However, about a month later, he and his friend Rajeev Ranjan started blackmailing the woman again and demanded money.
The woman reached the police station on Saturday and lodged a case against the duo.
"We are investigating the case and a team will be sent to Assam to investigate the case," said a senior police official.
