Day 3 of Malini Gaud’s ward scan drive was a mix involving suspension and appreciation of civic workers.

The mayor lauded efforts of civic workers in Palhar Nagar zone and announced a cash award of Rs 5,000 to the zonal office on Wednesday. “Palhar Nagar zone has emerged as an example by completing duties in a time-bound manner. People and public representatives lauded the efforts of zonal officers and civic workers,” she said.
In zone no 4 (Sangam Nagar zone), the mayor suspended three civic workers against whom area corporators raised complaints about inefficiency and malpractice. After the suspension orders, one of the workers entered into arguments with corporators. The drama ended on a bitter note, as one of the Mayor-in-Council members – Santosh Gaur – slapped the civic worker in full public view.
Gaud scanned office records to check compliance of civic duties and stressed on improving revenue collection. She directed officials to carry out inspections of at least 50 properties every day to check violation of building permission and whether they are regularly paying taxes.
She issued instructions to additional commissioner Devendra Singh to issue a circular to all zonal offices to maintain a daily record of number of houses surveyed by them and keep a record of their payments and dues.
