Ujjain: Yoga gurus from across the globe to meet at Simhastha

The month-long Simhastha fair in Ujjain will witness a grand congregation of Yoga instructors and enthusiasts from the country, USA and Europe during Yoga Kumbh, a series of seminars, conventions and workshops on the ancient Indian discipline nurturing the mind, body and soul.

The month-long Simhastha fair in Ujjain will witness a grand congregation of Yoga instructors and enthusiasts from the country, USA and Europe during Yoga Kumbh, a series of seminars, conventions and workshops on the ancient Indian discipline nurturing the mind, body and soul.

Researchers and scholars from the field of yoga, Ayurveda, medical sciences, spirituality, alternative therapies and psychology will hold discussions with participants at the event.

Yoga gurus and spiritual leaders including Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Brahmrishi Guruvanand Swami, Hansa Jaydev Yogendra, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Yogi Andre Reihl and Prof Ingunn Hagen are invited to the event.

“We are holding six events during Simhastha and expect participation of about 6,000 foreign and 45,000 Indian delegates,” Ujjain Yoga Life Society International director Pundit Radheshyam Mishra told HT.

“An international seminar based on the theme ‘yoga for peace and humanity’ will be held from April 26-30. A global yoga convention will be held from May 5 to 15 where instructors will conduct workshops,” he said. Yoga sessions will start from April 21, a day before commencement of Simhastha fair.

Organisers have set up tents to accommodate 2,700 people while remaining participants will stay at hotels in Ujjain, Indore and nearby towns. Local participants will commute to the place daily.

Participants can present their research works on the theme of seminar. “The seminar aims to introduce yoga as a tool for world peace and humanity at a time when growing mental discontent is leading to aggression and agitation all over the world,” Mishra said.

To boost understanding of the link between yoga and human body-mind complex

To provide opportunities for multi-stakeholder dialogue on creative solutions to unresolved challenges in research on yoga and health

May 1-4: A seminar on Bhakti Yoga

May 5-15: Global Yoga Convention

May 5-8: Yoga for physical, emotional and mental health

May 9-12: Yoga for total life management

May 13-15: Antaryatra – a journey within – yoga and meditation
