He had played the role of a psychopathic serial killer in Raman Raghav 2.0 and in the film Freaky Ali, he would be in a romantic role.

Ask him how he manages to maintain a balance between different kinds of acting, he says, “The kind of intensity with which I performed in Raman Raghav is the same that I put in for Freaky Ali. I get a task to perform and like an obedient actor, I give my best shot at it.”

The actor says that he never thought of a ‘career’ but it was his passion to work that brought him where he stands today.

“I never thought about my career or working in films. I wanted to work and that is all I knew back then. I looked for work in serials but since I did not get it there, I started working in films,” said Siddiqui on Monday. He said, “I am an actor and should continuously work towards it. I never had a preconception that I have to achieve this in my career, or bag a lead role.”

Siddiqui, who is known for his serious roles, has also done comic roles. One of his favourite moments from his struggling days is the time when one of his play directors founded the ‘serious’ side of Nawaz.

“I was more into comic roles. Once, my director from Moscow, casted me for a serious role in his play. Every time I gave a shot for it, I failed because I was not able to leave the comedy behind. He then scolded me left, right and centre. After that, when I gave my shot, he loved it,” Siddiqui said.
