The race for the IPL 2017 play-offs has intensified with Mumbai Indians becoming the first team to qualify. The race for the remaining three spots is still open, with the likes of Rising Pune Supergiant, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab still in the fray. Delhi Daredevils too are in with a chance. (IPL 2017 FULL COVERAGE)

However, the number of wins for each team this time has created a unique progression in the IPL 2017 points table, with the top team scoring most number of wins and teams following it having a win less than the one preceding it. (IPL 2017 SCHEDULE)

This coincidence has never been witnessed in the history of the tournament. This was how the points table looked before the start of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians, who have qualified for the play-offs, have nine wins. Rising Pune Supergiant, who are second, have eight wins while third-placed Kolkata Knight Riders have registered seven wins.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are in fourth spot with six wins followed by Kings XI Punjab with five wins. The bottom half starts with Delhi Daredevils winning four, followed with Gujarat Lions winning just three and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are in serious trouble of landing with the wooden spoon, have just two wins.

This unique progression of 98765432 in the win section, which looks more like a mobile phone number, is the first of its kind.
