Arrival of foreign tourists crosses 13 lakh, sees 6% growth in 2014

Tourism is one industry that is looking up in Rajasthan.
According to the figures available with the state tourism department, the arrival of foreign tourist crossed 13 lakh till November 2014, an impressive 6.39% growth since 2013.
The figures revealed an inflow of around 13.55 lakh foreign tourists between January and November 2014 from various parts of countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, France and Germany.
Overall, there has been an increase of 9.13% tourists in the state.
At the same time, arrival of domestic tourists was 3.11 crore in 2014.
This shows an increase of 9.25% over the previous year's figure of 2.84 crore, the figures put on the state tourism department website said.
According to a senior tourism department official, there was a decline of 5.77% foreign tourists in November.
Their highest arrival was reported in June, July and August.
Director of tourism department Vikram Singh said, "Overall, there has been an increase in tourist flow in state this year. Constant efforts by the state government in providing a healthy atmosphere, special attention towards cleanliness and security has made a mark."
Besides, renovation of state monuments and emphasis of governments, on tourism had made a huge difference, Singh said.
Development of tourism sector is one of the priorities of chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
Earlier, she had said the significance of tourism as the axis of development for Rajasthan.
The state government is now focusing on the basic needs like infrastructural development, education, health etc to bring about a positive change in the sector.
