The police have recovered two bikes and two country-made pistols from their possession, he added.

“The accused have admitted to their involvement in nine incidents of chain snatching and one incident of mobile lifting in Alwar city only. Of these, eight incidents of chain snatching and one of mobile lifting took place in Bhiwadi circle,” Prakesh said.

Sunil, Salim, Sharookh are the residents of Karenda village under Chopanki police station area and Dr Abid, who disposed of stolen items, belongs to Ferozepur Jhirka in Nuh district of Haryana. “All the accused had been staying at the houses of their relatives in Haryana to avoid arrest,” the SP said.

About their modus oprandi, Prakesh said that the gang members would gather at Tauru in Nuh district and enter Alwar city via Ramgarh and Nogaeon. After committing the crime, they would return on their Pulsar bikes through the same route.

“They committed the snatching incident during day time,” he said, adding that they also have criminal record in Haryana. “They have also snatched seven gold chains from Faridabad, Sohna and Faridabad of Haryana,” said the SP, adding that more incidents of snatching and theft could be known during further investigation.
