Govt-Gujjar talks begin
The Rajasthan government on Monday began fresh talks with Gujjar leaders headed by Col Kirori Singh Bainsala in Ajmer central jail.
The government will continue discussions over the next two to three days on demands by the Gujjar community to provide them ST status.
Gujjar leader Bainsala sounded optimistic. “The chances of resolving the problem look bright. But it may take some time,” he said.
Meanwhile, the skirmishes between the Meenas and the Gujjars continued on Monday. The Meenas have also threatened an agitation if the government meets Gujjar demands.
