The Kota Police on Saturday arrested one more accused for assault on the station house officer (SHO) Kunhadi police station, Kota, Rajesh Soni. Meanwhile Soni’s health has improved, police said.
Soni was injured on Friday after a member of criminal gang fired at him.
The arrested has been identified as Shaabu, while one more accused Mukhtar is still absconding.
Superintendent of police (SP) Kota city Amandeep Singh Kapoor said a joint police team of the Kota city and Kota rural police had raided an underconstruction house in Nanta area of Kota City on Friday evening, after it received information that a gang of criminals was hiding there.
When the team, led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Rural Kota Police Aalok Singhal, stormed the house, Soni caught one of the gang members identified as Anwar. However, Anwar fired at Soni with a country-made revolver injuring him in the leg.
Later, Anwar and his two other associates Sheru and Basharat tried to flee but were overpowered by the police team. However, two other aides of the accused — Shaabu and Mukhtar — managed to flee.
According to police, Anwar had fled from the Shri Ganganagar Jail around a month ago.
Soni was admitted to a private hospital in Kota city and his condition is said to be stable.
The arrested criminal gang members are accused of petrol pump loots in Madhya Pradesh, in Mangrol region of Baran district and Udhyog Nagar in Kota. The gang has also committed loots in Deoli Manjhi, Seemliya and other areas of Hadauti region.
