Archery coach Soumen Das passes away

Well-known Sports Authority of India Archery coach Soumen Das died on Saturday after prolonged illness.

Das, who was 45, is survived by wife Falguni Das, a former India archer and a nine-year-old daughter Barsha Das, archery association sources said.

Soumen, popularly known as Bhola, served as SAI coach both at Delhi and Kolkata and trained and accompanied the Indian from mid-1980s till the end of 1990s.

He had, among others, coached Olympians Dola Banerjee and Limba Ram, to name a few, during his stint as India coach, the Archery Association of India (AAI) said in a release.

Dass younger brother, Nitish Das, is the national coach of Bangladesh currently.

Regional director, SAI (Eastern Centre), VVSN Rao, and AAI secretary general PN Mukherjee condoled the demise of Das.
