Dasmunshi undergoes angioplasty

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has undergone angioplasty at a city hospital where his condition is now stated to be stable.
Authorities at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on Monday said Dasmunshi was first diagnosed to be suffering from acute coronary syndrome. A subsequent angiogram revealed coronary artery disease.
The arterial obstruction was removed via surgery late on Sunday night and the Minister is now on oral diet.
The 62-year-old Minister is in the ICCU under observation of cardiologists Rabin Chakraborty and Ramesh Seshadry and house physician Tirthankar Chowdhury.
He was flown into the city by a special BSF airplane from Purnea on Sunday night after he complained of chest pain during a journey in Malda district. He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night, sources said.
