The security personnel had a tough time as Banerjee alighted from her car to walk to the state secretariat as the people stopped in the busy BBD Bagh area and began to shout 'Didi, Didi' as she is known to her followers.

Banerjee stopped to speak to the people on her way to the secretariat.

When Banerjee reached the central gate of the secretariat, an employee of a unit in Asansol fell at her feet and began narrating his plight.

The man who was carrying a file lost it in the jostle to prove his plight, with the police retrieving it for him and taking him away.

On May 20, soon after swearing in as chief minister, Banerjee had walked about half a km from the Raj Bhavan to the Writers' Buildings amidst a sea of humanity.
