The police have sent a report to the Election Commission (EC) against the officer-in-charge and a sub-inspector of Shyampukur, the electoral constituency of Trinamool nominee Shashi Panja, for tampering a registered FIR about an assault on Trinamool supporters by CPI(M) cadres.

Putul Roy, the wife of one of the local Trinamool supporters, filed a complaint accusing CPI(M) cadres of assault near Shyambazar.
A poll panel source said the accused police personnel could be suspended. The accused has been identified as Shyamal Sengupta, OC, and Sibaji Paul, the sub-inspector. Trinamool leader Panja, said, “Our supporters had been beaten by CPI(M) cadres.”
“We conducted an inquiry and found their involvement in the incident,” said R Pacchnanda, the state police commissioner, adding, “The report has been sent to Election Commission.”
