Lok Sabha elections 2019: Noida residents wait for voter identity cards, registration details
Residents of Noida city on Monday alleged that although they had applied for voter registration, they have either not received their election photo identity card (EPIC) or have not been registered in the voters’ list yet.
Residents said they have no information on how to get themselves registered . Many said they had applied for their voter registration as early as November last year. “We applied online for registration as voters in January. While it shows online that a booth level officer will be assigned as the next step, we have not received any more information,” Mrinalini Jaiswal, a resident of Sector 137, said.
In a similar situation, another resident said she had applied about five months back but had not received any information yet.
Dipanwita Samadder, a resident of Sector 77, said, “We had submitted our forms during a voter registration camp in our area in October last year. We have not received our voter card yet and we are not even added to the list.”
Residents in Sector 46 also said several families had registered during a camp last year but none of them have received voter cards, though some had got a text message confirming registration. Officials said people can submit forms till March 15. About 1.34 lakh new EPIC cards will be distributed before March 22.
Meanwhile, those who registered online after November 30 will also be processed soon and will be informed about their EPIC cards soon, officials added. “Our representative has gone to Chennai to collect EPICs of new voters who have been registered. Others who have applied for a transfer or address change will also be available in the next week. We will get the new EPICs in a couple of days that will be distributed before March 22,” BN Singh, DM and district election officer, said.
Those who have not registered yet have two more days to apply. These applications will be fast tracked to be added to the voters’ list, officials said. “Applications of those who applied after November 20, 2018, have not been processed yet. They should not panic as they will get their EPICs in time,” Rakesh Sharma, assistant district election officer, said.
