Congress general secretary (east UP) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will interact with party workers in Lucknow on Sunday to review the state unit’s preparedness for the Lok Sabha election.
The interaction has been scheduled a day before she begins her river journey from Prayagraj to Varanasi (March 18 to 20) and launches the party’s poll campaign. A late night report quoting the Prayagraj district administration said permission had been given for the river journey.
In Lucknow, the Congress general secretary will meet a number of delegations of those who have been holding demonstrations against the BJP government and also interact with people to take feedback about implementation of various programmes.

SKM announces names of nine candidates for Sikkim Assembly polls
Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Sunday announced the names of nine candidates for the coming state assembly polls to be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections.
The announcement of the canidates’ names follows SKM calling off its nascent alliance with the BJP on Friday and deciding to contest all the 32 state assembly seats and the lone Lok Sabha seat in Sikkim.
SKM president P S Golay announced the names at a well attended meeting of the party at Hee Gaon in West Sikkim during the day.
The nine candidates represent all the four districts of Sikkim, he said adding they have been selected unanimously by the party’s parliamentary committee.
The names of the rest of the candidates will be announced soon, he said.
The list of candidates announced includes the names of Kunga Nima Lepcha and Rev Sonam Lama who are sitting MLAs in the assembly.
The seven other candidates are Sangey Lepcha from Yuksam Tashiding, Mingma Norbu Sherpa fromDaramdin, M K Dhakal fromSingtam Khamdong, Chungkipu Lepcha from Dzongu, Sandup Lepcha from Lachen-Mangan, R K Basnett fromRangang-Yanagang and Ganesh Rai from Namchi-Singhithang seats, he said.
Jana Sena, BSP tie up in AP; Kalyan wants Mayawati to be PM
The Jana Sena Sunday announced an electoral tie-up with the Bahujan Samaj Party in Andhra Pradesh, allotting three Lok Sabha and 21 assembly seats to it for the April 11 elections.
Announcing this, Sena president Pawan Kalyan said he wished to see BSP chief Mayawati as the Prime Minister.
Kalyan had met Mayawati in Lucknow two days ago.
BSP senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Veer Singh came to Vijayawada Sunday to formalise the alliance.
Accordingly, the BSP has been allotted SC reserved Lok Sabha seats Chittoor, Tirupati and Bapatla.
The 21 assembly seats have not been finalised yet.
AIADMK, DMK to cross swords in 8 seats in Tamil Nadu
The ruling AIADMK Sunday released the full list of 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry to be fought by it and its allies.
Only eight constituencies will see arch-rivals DMK and AIADMK crossing swords one on one.
If Indiya Jananayaga Katchi (Perambalur) and Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (Namakkal), who will contest with their partner DMK’s rising sun symbol and Puthiya Needhi Katchi (Vellore) that will fight in the two leaves symbol of its ally AIADMK is considered, then the clash between the two Dravidian majors will be seen in 11 Lok Sabha seats.
BJP shortlists candidates for all 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka
The BJP’s Karnataka unit said Sunday that it has shortlisted candidates for all the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and the party’s central election committee would soon take a call on it, reported news agency PTI.
“We have shortlisted the names of all the candidates (in Karnataka). The central election committee will take a decision on it and release the list,” BJP state general secretary Arvind Limbavali told reporters.
He was speaking after the party’s state core meeting here, chaired by BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.
BJP general secretary and state unit in-charge P Muralidhar Rao, BJP organising secretary (in-charge south India) B L Santosh, former chief ministers D V Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar were among those who attended the meeting.
BJP releases list for Andhra, Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections
The Bhartiya Janta Party on Sunday released its list of 177 candidates contesting from Andhra Pradesh (123) and Arunachal Pradesh (54) for assembly elections.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu will be BJP nominee from Mukto Assembly constituency.
