In his 25-point manifesto, Lovely assured citizens of easy commute by connecting areas in his constituency such as Madanpur Khadar with a new Metro line.
Congress candidate from East Delhi Arvinder Singh Lovely on Wednesday released a constituency specific manifesto, promising a toll-free number and a website to enable residents to connect with him directly. He said concerns raised by citizens would be raised in Parliament.
In his 25-point manifesto, Lovely assured citizens of easy commute by connecting areas in his constituency such as Madanpur Khadar with a new Metro line. A three-time MLA and a former minister in the Sheila Dikshit government, Lovely also invoked the Congress’s Nyay’ scheme.
“I plan to launch a toll-free number and a website for the residents of East Delhi. Using this, they can register their needs and I will raise their issues in Parliament. The voice of the people will reach the house,” said Lovely, who had represented east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency thrice.
He said if elected, he would use the MP’s local area development (MPLAD) funds in consultation with residents. “I plan to hold public meetings in all the 10 assembly segments regularly to resolve residents’ problems face to face as well as take suggestions for development projects in the area,” the Congress nominee said.
Lovely is contesting against AAP’s Atishi and the BJP’s Gautam Gambhir.
Lovely, who was Delhi’s education minister, promised free and compulsory education till class XII in government schools and opening of new colleges and ITI centres for higher education.
The manifesto promises to address basic issues such as providing potable water, curbing pollution, unemployment, congestion, women safety and better public transport services.
“I have worked on ground and I know the problems of this constituency inside out. East Delhi saw development during the 15-year Congress rule, be it Metro connectivity, construction of flyovers and establishing the trans-Yamuna development board, among others,” said Lovely.
