Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to hold a road show in Mumbai on Thursday, as part of his two-day visit to Maharashtra. While the Congress is yet to confirm it, Gandhi is likely to cover all six Lok Sabha constituencies in the city in the six-hour road show.

“We have planned a road show for the Congress president. We are also trying to cover all six constituencies and are planning the routes accordingly,” said a senior Congress leader, wishing anonymity.

On Friday, he is likely to hold two election rallies — Nandurbar and Sinnar (Nashik).

However, the party is still in two minds over whether the schedule of the candidates will be disturbed and whether it will cause inconvenience to commuters. “Plans for campaigning are yet to be finalised. We have to decide on whether he will hold a road show or a public meeting,” said another leader, wishing not to be named.

Mumbai Congress chief Milind Deora said they are trying to bring both Congress president and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi for election campaigning.

“We want to bring both the leaders to Mumbai before April 26, which is the last day for campaigning. However, it is still in the planning stage,” Deora said.

The Congress is contesting five of the six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai in alliance with the NCP and other small parties. Its ally NCP is contesting one — Mumbai North East constituency.

The opposition front had lost all six seats to the BJP-Shiv Sena combine in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In Maharashtra, Gandhi has so far addressed total four rallies in the state — Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur and Nanded. He has also held an interactive session with students in Pune.
