Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remark that the Opposition leaders mocked BJP’s focus on constructing toilets, BSP chief Mayawati on Friday said the toilets built during his government were either lying incomplete or not equipped with doors or water.
Addressing a rally in Mirzapur, she said the sisters and daughters in our country don’t want such ill-equipped toilets. “Hinting at SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hint on Thursday said that the alliance (leaders’) speeches begin with toilet and end with the same.I’ve attended most of the rallies with Akhilesh Yadav and he hasn’t said any such thing. He only spoke about toilets which are lying incomplete and don’t have doors and water supply. Akhilesh Yadav said there is a need for toilets which have water and doors,” Mayawati said adding that the PM tried to mislead people in attempt to cover up his failures.
She further added, “Our daughters and sisters don’t want toilets that don’t have water and doors.”
She also said that the BJP should inform Modi that no other politician can look after women in the villages the way she did. She further elaborated that during the rule of the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh, she developed several villages under the Dr Ambedkar Gram Vikas Scheme. Under the scheme, her government ensured construction of the toilets equipped with all facilities in the villages. She said that during the BSP rule, her government ensured construction of more toilets as compared to the Modi government.
