BHU molestation case: One accused arrested, another still at large
Sunny Yadav, who used to work at the vehicle stand on the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) premises, was arrested from Seer area of Lanka, while hunt is on for the other accused.
One of the two accused, allegedly involved in the molestation of a student on Banaras Hindu University (BHU) premises on September 21 that triggered massive protests, was arrested from Lanka area of Varanasi on Wednesday.

The accused, Sunny Yadav used to work at the vehicle stand on the university premises. He was arrested from Seer area of Lanka and sent to jail after being produced before a local court here, police said, adding that a hunt is still on for the other accused.
The sexual harassment case had triggered a series of protests on the campus. On September 23, protesting students, mostly girls, were baton-charged by the police in front of the university gate.
Taking note of the incident, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government formed a two-member committee comprising Varanasi divisional commissioner Nitin Ramesh Gokarn and ADG Vishwajeet Mahapatra to look into the incident.
The committee held the BHU administration, led by the then-vice-chancellor Prof GC Tripathi, responsible for improper handling of the girl’s complaint.
Later, Prof Tripathi proceeded on an indefinite leave which continued till his tenure ended on November 27.
