Jagdish Prasad was found murdered at his residence in Hazoorpur town on Wednesday.
“Jagdish Prasad was repeatedly assaulted with blunt objects and later attacked with sharp edged weapons. It appears three-four people committed the crime," police inspector RS Mathur told reporters in Bahraich, about 140 km from Lucknow.

“We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime," he added.
Demanding the arrest of those involved in the killing, BJP activists onb Thursday blockaded roads and held demonstrations while forcing commercial establishments in Bahraich to shut down.
