Chill returns in UP, mercury dips by 3 notches

After witnessing pleasant weather for almost a week, winter chill returned to UP with the minimum temperature dipping by nearly three degrees Celsius.

After witnessing pleasant weather for almost a week, winter chill on Wednesday returned to Uttar Pradesh with the minimum temperature dipping by nearly three degrees Celsius.

A considerable decline in the temperature has been recorded across the state in last 24 hours due to fresh snowfall in the neighbouring hill states.

The met officials said the temprature has dropped by three degrees in the state capital.

Lucknow, which recorded the lowest temperature of 11.5 degrees on Tuesday, registered a minimum of 8 degrees on Wednesday, nearly three notches below normal.

With 8 degrees temperature Agra was the coldest place in the state.

In other parts of the state, Kanpur recorded a minimum of 10.6 degrees, which was two notches above normal, followed by 9.6 degrees in Bareilly while Varanasi registered a minimum of 11.3 degrees, two degrese above normal.

The met department has predicted partly cloudy sky and mist in the morning and minimum temperature will be around 9 degrees on Thursday.
