DIG/SSP Meerut placed under suspension

Chief minister Mayawati on Tuesday ordered suspension of DIG/SSP Meerut JN Singh and transferred district magistrate Subhash Chandra Sharma for delay in their response to communal clashes and arson in Meerut on Sunday.

Chief minister Mayawati on Tuesday ordered suspension of DIG/SSP Meerut JN Singh and transferred district magistrate Subhash Chandra Sharma for delay in their response to communal clashes and arson in Meerut on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons, cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said the DIG/SSP had been placed under suspension for reaching the spot of the incident late. He said the district magistrate had also been transferred.

Singh said the chief minister acted tough against the officers on the basis of a report that the Special DG had sought on the issue.

Singh said the decision to suspend the DIG/SSP was taken to ensure immediate action on the part of officers in future.
