Leave of DMs in Uttar Pradesh’s flood prone districts cancelled

UP government has prepared a work plan to carry out relief and rescue operation during floods. The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has been put on alert in flood prone districts.
Minister of state for flood control (Independent charge) Swati Singh said on Wednesday the water level of major rivers increased after rainfall across the state. “Except Gonda there is no report of breach in the embankments. Repair work was being carried out on a war footing and people have been moved to safe spots,” she said.
Replying to the debate on flood, she said the state government had directed the district magistrates to remain alert. Control rooms had been set up in 45 districts to monitor the flood situation, she said.
Irrigation minister, Dharampal Singh said till July 15, 238 mm rainfall had been recorded in the state.
The state government has cancelled the leave of the district magistrates in 40 flood prone districts, he said.
