Six killed, three hurt in head-on crash

Six people were killed while three others were injured when a Tata Magic had a head-on collision with a truck on the city’s outskirts in the Mal area on Sunday morning.

Six people were killed while three others were injured when a Tata Magic had a head-on collision with a truck on the city’s outskirts in the Mal area on Sunday morning.

Police said the driver of the passenger carrier was talking on the cell phone and failed to see the truck coming from the opposite direction near Tiwarikheda village around 7.30am.

The Tata Magic was totally crushed in the collision leaving four people dead on the spot. These included driver Mohd Shahid, 40. All the injured passengers were rushed to the Trauma Centre with the help of local villagers where two more persons succumbed to injuries.

The truck driver fled leaving the vehicle on the spot. Cops seized the vehicle after registering an FIR.

The deceased were identified as Paragi Lal, 50, Munnu Lal, 25, Umesh, 25, Devi Prasad Raidas, 35 and Santosh Kumar, 28.

The injured included Pyare Lal, 21, Pradeep, 25 and Jai Ram, 40. They were admitted to the KGMU’s trauma centre where Pradeep’s condition was stated to be critical.
