SP leader Janeshwar Mishra died

Senior Vice President of Samajwadi Party Janeshwar Mishra died following cardiac arrest in Allahabad on Friday morning.

Mishra, 76, was not keeping well for a long time. He was admitted to a nursing home in Allahabad.

Born on August 5, 1933 in Ballia Mishra was a close associate of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and was known as "Chote Lohia" in political circle.

He was member of Rajya Sabha. Mishra first became member of Lok Sabha in 1969-70. Before being elected to Rajya Sabha in 1996 he represented Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency thrice. He first became union minister of state in 1977. He was also minister in VP Singh and Chandra Shekhar ministries.

He was a guide, philosopher in Samajwadi Party. SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav has expressed deep anguish over the demise of Mishra.
